Super Bowl XLVI

the upcoming Super Bowl XLVI the two teams—the New England Patriots and the New York Giants-- that will vie for the 2012 world championship got there because of something their opponent in the conference championship game failed to do.

The teams making the mistakes that vaulted this year’s opponents into the Super Bowl at Indianapolis on Feb. 5 were coached by brothers—Jim Harbaugh of the San Francisco 49ers and John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens.

A couple of mistakes in the latter portions of both conference championship games prevented National Football League history from being made where two brothers would be coaching against each other in the Super Bowl.

New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons 2011
National Football League ( NFL)
8:30 PM ET, December 26, 2011
Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA

Our Monday Night Football game this week is at 8:30PM at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday, December 26th, the day following Christmas in the United States. The Atlanta Falcons will visit Louisiana to take on the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have already gotten their spot in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean that they are going to slack off in the last two weeks of the regular season. The Atlanta Falcons are two games behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South right now. The Saints need a win to take another division title.

New Orleans is 11 and 3 right now and is headed to the post season for what will be the third time in three years. However, they are still hoping to get that first round bye, and if they take their third straight victory over the Atlanta Falcons they will do it. The Falcons are 9 and 5 and they just need to win one of the last two games they have to play to make it into the playoffs. Sign up at the banners and get your membership. You will get instant access to high quality streaming NFL video no matter where in the world you happen to live.

The New Orleans Saints have already secured a spot in the playoffs, but they still have plenty to play for in the final two weeks of the regular season.

Two games behind the Saints in the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons are primed to join them in the postseason.

Needing a win to clinch their second division title in three years, the Saints look to continue their recent success against the Falcons on Monday night at the Superdome.

Riding a season-high six-game winning streak, New Orleans (11-3) is postseason-bound for a third consecutive year. Hoping to earn a first-round playoff bye, the Saints can wrap up the South title with a third straight win over second-place Atlanta (9-5).

"The sky's the limit and that's where we're trying to get to," New Orleans safety Roman Harper said. "Our goal is nothing less than a victory in the Super Bowl, and right now we just trying to stay focused and take it one step at a time."

The Falcons, meanwhile, simply need to win either of their final two games to return to the playoffs. If Atlanta wins both contests and the Saints drop two straight, the Falcons would win their second consecutive South title by virtue of a better record within the division.

Atlanta concludes the regular season at home versus Tampa Bay while New Orleans hosts Carolina, both on New Year's Day.

"We control what we can control," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "It's obvious our guys are familiar with the scenarios we are in. I know our guys are aware of it. We're not going to change our preparation, how we prepare. We try to be as steady as we can and just continue to move forward like we have all season."

Live NFL Online Green Bay vs Chicago

On Sunday, December 25th, on Christmas Day, the Chicago Bears will take on the Green Bay Packers at 8:20PM, after a whole bunch of games were shifted to Saturday to allow for the Christmas holiday. This is Week Sixteen of the NFL Regular Season, with only two games left to be played and it happens at Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers have lost the opportunity for a perfect season, and now the Chicago Bears have nothing going on, which really takes away that excitement that should have come from this one Christmas Day game.

The Green Bay Packers are recovering from their first loss in one year, and they will play the Bears, who have suffered from several injuries and have three losses in a row right now. A few weeks ago, Green Bay was still in the running to have a perfect season, and Chicago had a decent record, and five games in a row won. Now, there just isn't that much excitement. You can watch this game live, and the rest of the regular and post seasons right from your computer or mobile device. All you have to do is click on the banners and sign up.
With the possibility of a perfect season now over for the Green Bay Packers, and the Chicago Bears in the midst of a free fall from playoff contention, the NFL's lone Christmas game has lost most of its luster.

The Packers look to bounce back from their first defeat in almost exactly one year and hand the injury-riddled Bears a fifth consecutive loss Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Five weeks ago this contest appeared ready to live up to the expected hype with Green Bay (13-1) flirting with a perfect season and Chicago (7-7) riding a five-game winning streak. Little more than a month later, much less drama surrounds the NFL's Christmas showcase.

Though the Packers still own the league's best record and remain Super Bowl favorites, they're battling injuries and could rest more players after their 19-game winning streak was snapped with a 19-14 loss at Kansas City last Sunday.

Chicago, meanwhile, has dropped four in a row since its five-game run and will be starting recently-signed journeyman Josh McCown at quarterback.

While the Bears playoff hopes might be slim, they remain focused on trying to snap both their overall losing streak and a three-game skid against Green Bay. That includes a 21-14 loss in last season's NFC championship game at Soldier Field.

Live NFL Online Jacksonville vs Atlanta

A spectacular comeback helped put the Atlanta Falcons in position for their third playoff berth in four years.

With coach Mike Smith expected to be on the sideline after a medical scare, the Falcons will try to hold on to that spot Thursday night against a visiting Jacksonville Jaguars team that showed it's not just content to play out the string.

It appeared that Atlanta's playoff hopes might take a hit this past Sunday when it trailed 23-7 at halftime in Carolina. The Falcons, though, responded with 24 unanswered points in a 31-23 victory and received additional help later in the day with Chicago's stunning overtime loss in Denver.

Matt Ryan had three of his career high-tying four touchdown passes over the final 24 minutes against the Panthers, including two to Julio Jones in the fourth quarter.

"We approached it as the first of four legs," Ryan said of the team's remaining games. "We've knocked the first leg out and now we've got to move on and keep going."

Atlanta (8-5) enters this week tied with Detroit for the NFC's final playoff berths, and leading Chicago and Dallas by one game. The Falcons have a trip to NFC South leader New Orleans remaining on their schedule, which could make winning this week's game crucial to their postseason hopes.

Judging by their most recent performance, the Jaguars (4-9) might not make it easy for Atlanta. Jacksonville is coming off its highest-scoring game in nearly four years, a 41-14 rout of Tampa Bay on Sunday that snapped a three-game skid.

Maurice Jones-Drew scored a career-high four times while helping interim coach Mel Tucker earn his first win and set a franchise record with his 71st career touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Rookie Blaine Gabbert threw two of those TDs to the running back while topping 200 yards for the third time this season.

"This is what we expected to have all year," defensive tackle Terrance Knighton said. "It didn't work like that, but hopefully it will be good momentum for us."

While the Jaguars will seek to win consecutive games for the first time this season, the Falcons will try to claim their seventh victory in nine contests and will likely have Smith to help them in that attempt.

The 52-year-old Atlanta coach checked into a Charlotte hospital after he reportedly became ill and walked off the team plane following Sunday's win. The Falcons released a statement that Smith was examined for a "non-emergency matter" but did not offer further details.

He returned to Atlanta early Monday morning on owner Arthur Blank's private jet and was back at practice that night.

"I'm really embarrassed to have to even be talking about it," Smith said. "I don't want to talk about it. I'd prefer to talk about the way our guys played in the second half and we've got a short week and we've got to get ready for Jacksonville."

Smith had the Falcons ready to play on three days' rest last season when they beat Baltimore 26-21 during an eight-game win streak. However, they weren't ready the last time they faced the Jaguars, losing 13-7 during a 4-12 campaign in 2007.

Smith was hired after that season and led the team to an 11-5 record in his first year.

Atlanta finished last season with the NFC's best record (13-3) but needs to win out and have New Orleans lose its remaining games to repeat as division champs.

They'll try to take a step toward fulfilling at least one part of that scenario by earning their second win in five games against Jacksonville. Atlanta claimed that victory during the previous matchup at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 28, 2003.

Ryan, who has topped 300 yards in three of the last five games, will try to lead his team to another win by setting a single-season mark. He needs 232 yards to top last year's 3,705.

Top receiver Roddy White is 35 yards shy of his fifth straight 1,000-yard season and had four catches for 81 yards against the Jaguars in 2007.

Jones-Drew needs 170 yards to top his career high of 1,391 set in 2009.

Live NFL Online Packers vs Raiders

On Sunday, December 11th we wrap up Week Fourteen of the regular season with a game at Lambeau Field between the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders. These two teams go head to head at 4:15PM amidst a full schedule of fourteen NFL games that day. The Green Bay Packers are still unbeaten this season, right now with fifteen games under their belts and going for a sixteen and zero start. They will look forward to taking their first round playoff bye on Sunday when they go up against the Oakland Raiders.

The Packers broke some records this season, one of them being the first defender of the Super Bowl title to start the season 12-0 since the Broncos did it in 1998. Last Sunday's win on the road against the New York Giants was the 18th win in a row for the Green Bay Packers, which ties them for second place in the league's history for longest streak. Before entertaining the thought of going 16-0, the Green Bay Packers have a short list of other goals to attain.

The Packers achieved their first goal last week, clinching the NFC North title, and they'll look to secure their next -- a first-round playoff bye -- Sunday when they host the Oakland Raiders.

Green Bay became the first defending Super Bowl champion to start the following season 12-0 since the 1998 Denver Broncos with last Sunday's 38-35 road win over the New York Giants. It was the Packers' 18th straight victory -- tied for the second-longest streak in NFL history behind New England's 21-game run in 2003-04.

On the flight home, Green Bay found out that it won the division with Detroit's loss in New Orleans, but the Packers weren't in the mood to celebrate.

"It's just the first goal," coach Mike McCarthy said. "It's the first mile marker that we set out to hit on this journey, and now we're on to the next one."

The next goal is a first-round bye, which can be attained with a win or a Saints loss in Tennessee, and the following is home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. After those two goals are met, McCarthy said his team will be ready to talk about the perfect season.

Giants vs Cowboys live On Sunday, December 11th, we finish out the fourteenth week of play in the NFL regular season with a game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium. Both of these teams lost their games last weekend, but this weekend the stakes are much higher for both of them. The New York Giants are right in the middle of a four game skid that they are going to try to end on Sunday night at 8:20PM when they travel to Texas to take on the Cowboys. They will both be vying for the coveted NFC East leading spot.

The Dallas Cowboys are currently seven and five and they are currently ahead of the Giants by one point. New York is six and six right now and before they got caught up in their current losing streak, it was them that were ahead by two games. The Cowboys were in the middle of the opposite, a four game set of consecutive wins which got stopped last week when they lost to Arizona. While the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys both lost last weekend, the damage by those defeats can easily be mitigated thanks to what's at stake this weekend. The Giants will try to end a four-game losing streak Sunday night on the road against the Cowboys as these rivals play for the NFC East lead.

Dallas (7-5) leads New York (6-6) by one game. The Giants led the race by two before their slide. The Cowboys had their four-game win streak snapped thanks to mistakes that included poor clock management in last Sunday's 19-13 overtime loss at Arizona -- a defeat that cost them a chance to clinch the division this weekend.

"Most importantly, we have to put this one to bed and go to the next one," coach Jason Garrett said.

The Giants, meanwhile, seem buoyed despite last Sunday's 38-35 last-second loss to Green Bay. After giving the unbeaten Packers their toughest game, New York is looking forward to the chance to move back into first place.

"The mindset is looking ahead," quarterback Eli Manning said. "It doesn't matter what you've done last week or what your record is. It's what you're playing for, who you have this week. And you have Dallas, Sunday night football, that's a big one."

These teams' quarterbacks are having similar seasons. Manning has a 96.0 passer rating, 23 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and 3,705 passing yards. Tony Romo owns a 97.3 rating with 22 touchdowns to nine interceptions and 3,325 yards through the air.

"I think everyone knows this is an important game and you have to play the best football this time of year," Romo said. "We're going to go out there and give great effort and be ready for a great challenge in the Giants." Each passing game could get a boost Sunday.

Receiver Mario Manningham, out the last two games with a sore knee, could return for New York. Manningham has three touchdown catches in his last four games against Dallas and would complement a group that includes Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Cruz is fourth in the league with 1,076 receiving yards after three straight 100-yard efforts.

Cowboys star receiver Miles Austin and blocking fullback Tony Fiammetta returned to practice Wednesday and both are expected to play. That should provide help to an offense that has produced three touchdowns over the last two games.

The New York Giants are going to host the Green Bay Packers as we head into Week Thirteen, at 4:15PM on Sunday, December 4th. They will meet at MetLife Stadium. The Green Bay Packers will have a tough weekend this Sunday, as they are sitting on a perfect record and really can't afford anything to screw it up. It isn't that their spot in the playoffs is in any danger whatsoever, but they will be hoping to be the league's only undefeated team as long as possible and set a precedent for any future seasons that will be played.

The New York Giants do not appear to be a team that poses a threat to the undefeated Packers, but you never know what might happen. Green Bay has won seventeen straight games, and they just have four to go before they reach the NFL record. That was set by the New England Patriots in the 2003 to 2004 record, and one more means they take that record. You can watch them on the road to the record in high quality video from your computer or mobile device when you sign up at the banners on this page. You will get instant access to live streaming football online.

The next stop for the Green Bay Packers on their pursuit of perfection is an opponent that has ruined unbeaten seasons for foes in the past.

The New York Giants, however, currently do not resemble a team posing such a threat.

The Packers will present a second straight well-rested opponent to the stumbling Giants on Sunday when these teams headed in opposite directions meet at MetLife Stadium.

Led by Aaron Rodgers' astounding 33 touchdown passes to four interceptions, Green Bay is five games away from a perfect regular season. The Packers will wrap up the NFC North with a victory and a loss by Detroit at New Orleans on Sunday night.

Green Bay has won 17 straight -- four shy of the NFL record including the playoffs set by the Patriots from 2003-04.

"It is motivating to go out every week and compete better than you did the previous," Rodgers said. "We have been able to play the way we wanted to play consistently the first 11 games. We will see what happens when we get down this road a little bit."

The Packers' win streak began with a 45-17 home rout of the Giants in the next-to-last week of the 2010 regular season. New York would have clinched a playoff spot and eliminated Green Bay with a victory.

Instead the Giants missed the playoffs for a second straight year and appear on the verge of another collapse. They have lost three straight, and have a short week to get ready after allowing 577 yards -- the franchise's second-highest total -- in Monday's 49-24 loss at New Orleans.

New York (6-5) has dropped one game behind Dallas in the NFC East.

"We will bounce back and that is the thing I believe in," coach Tom Coughlin said. "That is what we preach. It is a time for us to be bold and not sit back and listen to what all of you are saying. Rather, just to come out fighting and that is the position we will take."

New York has a history of ruining unbeaten seasons, ending Denver's 13-0 start in 1998 although the Broncos went on to win a second straight Super Bowl. More notably, Coughlin's Giants ended New England's bid for a 19-0 season with a 17-14 win in Super Bowl XLII.

"It is a different circumstance when we played but it is the challenge of playing a team that is obviously a very good football team," Coughlin said. "That part is consistent."

The Giants were defenseless against a New Orleans team coming off its bye. The Packers have also had time to rest since their Thanksgiving win at Detroit.

New York could be even more hard-pressed to generate a pass rush to counter Rodgers since two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Osi Umenyiora is expected to miss the game with an ankle injury.

Umenyiora was mainly a non-factor in last season's meeting as Rodgers threw for 404 yards and four scores.

"We just executed really well," said Rodgers about that game. "We started off with the 80-yard touchdown to Jordy Nelson and we were just able to make the plays that we needed to make."

Another high-scoring affair could be in order, with Rodgers third in the league in passing yards with 3,475 and Eli Manning fourth at 3,358. The Packers are 31st in pass defense (287.8 yards per game) and the Giants 26th (251.2).

The Packers will be short-handed due to injuries from the win over the Lions. Right guard Josh Sitton hurt his knee, starting inside linebackers A.J. Hawk and Desmond Bishop both suffered calf injuries and none of them will play Sunday. Running back James Starks tweaked an ankle problem last week but is probable.

The Giants own the NFL's worst rushing attack in yards per game (82.3) and per carry (3.2). They will get a boost if Ahmad Bradshaw returns after missing the last four games with a broken bone in his right foot.

The abysmal running game is a major reason why New York has failed to score a first-half touchdown over the last four games.

"That is something that we have to fix," Manning said. "We have to find ways to get down there and get touchdowns."

Although Green Bay's pass defense is poor, Manning will have to be wary of the unit's league-high 22 interceptions. He was picked off four times in last season's matchup.

From what the Packers are saying, overconfidence won't be a problem.

"The most important mindset that we have as a football team is staying in touch with reality and the reality is we have to go to New York and beat the Giants," coach Mike McCarthy said. "That's a challenge. That's a tough place to play. They're a physical football team."
